摘要:
The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), enacted in January 2011, emphasizes food safety regulations focused on prevention rather than responding to contamination. As a response to increasingly standardized global food safety guidelines (e.g. the Global Food Safety Initiative, GlobalG.A.P., etc.), FSMA establishes guidelines for domestic agricultural producers and food processors but also contains provisions to hold imported food items to the same (equivalent) standards. The seven new food safety rules created under FSMA give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) direct oversight of 80% of the U.S. food supply (Strauss, 2011).
